I would give whatever body parts I could without dying to work with Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright for one day. I wish I was kidding, but I’m not. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE these two (well, three including Nick Frost). They are comedic geniuses. Period.

Nick Angel (Simon Pegg) is a police sergeant from London who is literally doing so well at stopping crime that he’s sent to the small town of Sandford to protect and serve. Despite being bored out of his skull, Nick suddenly realizes there’s a killer on the loose, only to find out so much more! Sandford’s police chief, Frank Butterman (Jim Broadbent) sends his clumsy son, Danny (Nick Frost), to assist Nick on any assignments, leading to a massive blowout one could never imagine!

This movie is absolutely amazing. I don’t even LIKE cop films, but I loved this one. I mean, sure, I could be biased, but I found this not only entertaining, but almost flawless. The performances by Pegg and Frost, again, were incredible. If Simon Pegg wasn’t married, I would totally move to England and stalk the shit out of him. Those two are such a great pair. Timothy Dalton is my idea of a perfect bad guy, so it was nice to see him play such a great role.

Cinematically, where do I begin? Hot Fuzz is just beautiful to watch. In fact, I will go as far as saying I would totally hump Edgar Wright and Jess Hall (DP for the film) on the face. Hard. It’s so crisp and clean and it makes me want to drool. Editor Chris Dickens is honestly my hero after seeing this film. The editor for both Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead, I would say Dickens is an overlooked talent. His editing is PERFECT and that’s a BIG statement. It moves smoothly, the cuts are perfect, it seamless. The fast montages in both Fuzz and Shaun are seen throughout, which I always love. I was literally cooing in my seat watching this film (ask my friend Nicole, she was there with me).

I was so excited after seeing this film in theatres that I clapped like a bafoon during the credits. Yes, I’m a nerd. I also made it a point to wake up early in the morning to go get a copy of this the day it came out.

Fangirl? Yes. But there’s a good reason for it.
