Most people went to see War, Inc. to see Miss Hilary “I’m a Good Girl” Duff stick a scorpion down her pants. I’ve got to admit, the curiosity got to me too. Essentially, I went to the movies simply because I was bored and saw this flick because I didn’t want to see Get Smart or The Love Guru. I’m glad I went though, because this movie was actually pretty damn good.
War, Inc. is about an ex-CIA agent, Brand Hauser (John Cusack), who is sent to Turaqistan (fictional…not a real place) to kill a political figure with his assistant Marsha Dillon (Joan Cusack) at his side. Things get mixed up when a Britney Spears-esque pop singer, Yonica Babyyeah (Hilary Duff), announces her wedding in the town, throwing Hauser for a loop…mentally and physically. He digs this journalist, Natalie Hegalhuzen (Marisa Tomei) and tries to get in her pants, but can’t get Yonica out of his mind. Hilarity ensues, big secrets are revealed and blood gushes. Seriously, this movie was a lot more gory than originally expected.
This is definitely a movie for guys and girls. It’s funny as hell. It’s purposefully cheesy at times and has some awesome political satire. I personally would give my soul to the devil to bang John Cusack (along with half the girls on the planet), so it was obviously nice to see him play a total badass. Joan Cusack has many incredible scenes, one in particular where the entire crowd was rolling with laughter. Hilary Duff gives a great performance, which totally shocked the pants off me.
To be totally honest, this film moved really slow at first, but after a while it picked up and it was hard to tear your eyes away. The last 20 minutes are totally action packed, which will satisfy the action-hungry hearts of men. Plus, Duff wears close to nothing throughout the entire movie. There’s hilarious product placement in this movie, along with introducing the idea of a company’s global takeover (the company Cusack works for, Tamerlane, essentially rules half the planet…Walmart, anyone?).
If this movie is playing nearby, definitely go check it out. If not, wait til it comes on DVD and Netflix that shit. It’s definitely worth it.
